View from the Valley Floor

This past Sabbath Pastor Mark talked about the "View from the Valley Floor." Mountains and valleys both are common themes throughout the Bible and easily related to our everyday lives.

This verse in Psalm 23 is probably the most well-known mention of a valley. It carries a dark connotation and represents extremely trying times in our lives. The Valley of the shadow of Death is visited by everyone at least once in their life. However, the Psalmist gives us hope. We have nothing to fear from this valley because Yahweh is with us! No matter the circumstances, He will never leave our side.

Isaiah 40:3-4 is another example of mountains and valleys. Here Yahweh is comforting Israel after their time in captivity. These verses reiterate the fact that even though we all go through low times in life, we will not stay there forever. Many people have more valleys (low times) than mountains (high times) in their live, but Yahweh will bring them together and make a way out.

Ezekiel 37:1-14 covers the story of Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones. This valley, too, may represent our lives at times. Yahweh poses Ezekiel with the question of whether or not the dry bones could live again. It is through Yahweh's power spoken through Ezekiel that they are able to rise back up. Through the faith and power of Yahweh can we also rise back up. Through Him nothing is impossible.

The valleys in your life, no matter how bleak, dark, or hopeless they may seem, will not be able to keep you down forever. Trust that Yahweh can and will bring you out and into His mountains once more.
